Notes:
The above is a reasonably close representation of the appearance of the
CKVN "Rock of Vancouver" series charts. To see their actual
appearance check the scans posted on the index
page.
Prominent collector Larry Morton describes these charts writing "CKVN
started producing these charts in March, 1972. They were large by
comparison to other Vancouver weekly charts, measuring 10 3/4 inches
wide by 16 3/4 high. The chart was designed by Bob Masse, a well
known Vancouver
artist.
"CKVN chart #99 was the last, small, folded chart issued on March 3,
1972. Chart #100, the first large sheet chart, was issued on
March 13, 1972, only ten days later. The LW chart positions on
chart #100 DO NOT match the current chart positions on chart #99, which
tends to indicate that there was another unpublished chart between
March 3rd and March 13th. This unpublished chart [above] has been
reconstructed using the LW chart positions on chart #100 [which in
these pages is numbered 101).
"CKVN recognized the chart numbering anomaly on the March 27, 1972
chart, by listing it as chart #103. There was no chart #102
issued. Therefore, the correct chart numbers are as follows:
"Unpublished chart, date unknown, should be - #100
March 13, 1972 -- should be #101
March 20, 1972 -- should be #102
March 27, 1972 -- correctly numbered as #103"
|
Thanks to Larry Morton for his explanation
above and for doing the reconstruction which was accomplished using the
LW column on the March 13, 1972 survey.
Note that the charts have been numbered in these pages as Larry has
described that they should have been.
