RED ROBINSON'S

Vancouver
Sun Aug. 30, 1957 |
Jimmy
Morrison, the young lad who was
spotlighted recently in this
column, has just recorded a new
release for London of Canada
through Aragon Records.
It's an old Hank
Williams favorite done up with a
brand new rock and roll beat.
The record will be on
the air in two days, and in the
stores in 12 days.
Jim is backed up
again by another local rock group
"The Sensational Stripes."
These boys have also
recorded two new songs. They
are originals written by Gerry
Finder, a member of the group.
The songs are called
Boogie Beat and the flip is Hot
Rod. They will be released
in conjunction with Jim's record.
PANDA FOR ELVIS
Saturday, the biggest
name in show business, Elvis
Presley, will strum his guitar and
shake his way into a
two-and-a-half hour extravaganza
at Empire Stadium.
As MC of the show, it will
be a pleasure to present Mr.
Sideburns with the west coast's
largest panda bear. He has
one of the world's largest
collections of them.
Saturday at 11:15
p.m. I will be staging an
all-Elvis Presley show which will
go on until I give up.
Listen in and hear all of
Presley's releases.
There will be record
prizes for a lot of people and
there will be a dozen open phone
lines so that you can phone in for
your favorite Presley selection.
MORE CHICKEN
More chicken-type
songs coming out. The
chicken, of course, is that new
dance craze created in New York.
Tuesday I received a
long distance call from Frank
Lasley of AMP 3 records in New
York. He was on my show for
25 minutes. He predicted
this song to climb to the
top: I'm Sitting on Top of
the World, Jerry Mar, AMP 3
(Sparton).
More predictions:
Topsy Turvy, Benn
Zeppa, Era.
Zip Zip, Diamonds,
Mercury.
